D.C. United selects Ohio State defender in MLS draft

D.C. United selected Ohio State’s Liam Doyle, a 6-foot-4 center back, in the fourth round of the MLS draft Tuesday.

He was the 67th overall selection. The club passed on its other two picks in the last round.

Doyle, who is from Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, started the past two seasons at Ohio State. Despite being a defender, he posted five goals in 2014 and six assists last season. Before arriving in Columbus, Doyle played two seasons at Cincinnati State Community College.
