D.C. United on Thursday added a second probable starter in the past week, reacquiring homegrown midfielder Chris Durkin via an international transfer and MLS trade.
United sent $200,000 of general allocation money this year and $125,000 next year to Houston for Durkin’s MLS rights. The Dynamo had claimed him in the MLS allocation process, which applies to players who return to the league after being sold earlier for at least $500,000.
FC Cincinnati owns the No. 1 position in the allocation order but passed on Durkin, who played the past 2½ years for Belgian club Sint-Truiden.
