D.C. United plans to file tampering charges against Orlando City, which apparently violated MLS rules by making a formal offer to a player with whom United was engaged in negotiations.
United officials on Thursday continued to decline comment on the matter, but sources familiar with the case say the club will pursue action against the Florida organization for interfering in talks with AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino.
If found guilty, Orlando would face fines and other possible disciplinary action. Last summer, the team was fined for publicly expressing interest in a player under contract with another MLS side.
