D.C. United has offered a homegrown contract to University of Maryland attacker Eryk Williamson, but it’s unclear whether he will accept it or return to College Park for his junior season.
The Alexandria, Va., native is in the Los Angeles area with the U.S. under-20 national team, which is preparing for the CONCACAF U-20 World Cup qualifying tournament next month in Costa Rica.
After a promising freshman campaign in 2015, Williamson did not have a breakout season with the Terrapins this past fall and has been advised by many close to him to stay in school for at least one more year in order to hone his skills.
