D.C. United traded two reserve attackers Monday, moves that helped better protect the roster ahead of the MLS expansion draft.
Midfielder Miguel Aguilar, United’s first-round draft pick in 2015, was packaged with a 2019 fourth-rounder to the Los Angeles Galaxy for a fourth-round selection in 2018. Forward Kennedy Igboananike, who joined United from Chicago in late summer, went to the Portland Timbers, along with an international roster slot, for a late second-round pick in next month’s draft (43rd overall).
Aguilar appeared in 23 regular season matches over two seasons, with four starts, all in 2015. This year, he spent most of the campaign with United’s USL affiliates, the Richmond Kickers.
