D.C. United has invited several trialists to the first stage of training camp in Florida, including two MLS-tested goalkeepers vying for a roster slot in the absence of injured starter Bill Hamid.
Andrew Dykstra, who started nine league matches last season, will begin camp as the top-choice keeper. But with Hamid out four to six months with a knee injury, the club is seeking to add an experienced player for depth and competition.
“There is a good chance we’ll sign another goalkeeper,” Coach Ben Olsen said. “But we have a lot of faith in Andrew. He has been waiting for this chance for some time.
