Road trips are inherently unpredictable ventures for every MLS team. Weather disturbances, flight delays, shoddy hotels, hostile crowds, unfamiliar field conditions and myriad other factors can throw players out of rhythm away from home.
There is one constant, however, that seems to follow D.C. United whenever it leaves the District: late drama.
United’s July road tour continues Saturday with a rematch against its nearest league foe, the Philadelphia Union. It’s the second of four consecutive away fixtures for a United squad that has seen each of its last four away games come down to a decisive play in the final five minutes.
