D.C. United goalkeeper Tyler Miller will miss four to six weeks because of a rib injury, thrusting Alex Bono into the starting role for a critical stretch of the MLS season.
Miller, who has started all but one regular season match, was injured in the first half of a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Union last Saturday and yielded to Bono after intermission.
“It’s bad timing obviously from [Miller’s] point of view, being at this stage of the season,” Coach Wayne Rooney said Thursday. Bono “has done well for us when he has come in.
