D.C. United has given a multiyear contract extension to General Manager Dave Kasper, whose current deal was to expire after next season, people close to the situation said Friday.
Kasper joined the organization in 2002. Besides retaining his GM role, Kasper will inherit the title of senior vice president of soccer operations. He was previously general manager and VP of soccer operations.
A team spokesman said the club did not want to comment. Kasper did not return a message seeking comment.
The deal will keep Kasper and Coach Ben Olsen together to make roster decisions for the foreseeable future.
