D.C. United enters critical four-game home stretch

Before Wednesday morning’s training session, D.C. United players gathered in the locker room at RFK Stadium to discuss their predicament. The coaching staff and support crew were not invited. This was about themselves, their inconsistency, their low place in the standings and the magnitude of the next four weekends.

They had conducted periodic low-key meetings, but with the team in a rut and the playoff outlook clouding, the time had come for an open forum.

“I don’t want to call a meeting when it’s just me; this was other guys asking to have it,” captain Bobby Boswell said in an interview Friday.
