In the dying moments of a 0-0 draw Saturday, Ian Harkes’s shot streaked toward the bottom right corner of the Los Angeles Galaxy’s net, a long-awaited breakthrough for a team famished for a goal.
It had been a month since D.C. United last scored at home, five weeks since it had converted in the run of play.
