CLEARWATER BEACH, FLA. — D.C. United has been on the hunt for a Latin American attacker for some time now, and it appears the club has found one who starred in MLS last year: Argentina’s Yamil Asad, a 23-year-old midfielder who posted seven goals and 13 assists for Atlanta United.
The deal for Asad’s rights is not done, multiple sources said Monday. With few players to spare, D.C. is likely to relinquish allocation money.
Asad was on loan to Atlanta from Argentine club Velez Sarsfield last year, and despite his sterling performance, the sides were unable to extend the deal.
