D.C. United on Monday announced two trades with two teams involving two attacking players, but for all practical purposes, it’s one roundabout move.
United dealt Chris Pontius, its longest-serving player, to the Philadelphia Union and acquired Lamar Neagle from the Seattle Sounders.
“Lamar is a talented player whose speed and versatility will allow us to create a more dynamic attack,” United General Manager Dave Kasper said in a prepared statement. “His work rate is top notch and we are very excited to welcome him to our club.”
Both are 28. Both are comfortable on the flanks.
