With eight months left on his contract, goalkeeper Bill Hamid is deep in negotiations with D.C. United regarding a multiyear extension, multiple sources told the Insider on Wednesday.
Hamid, 26, has been the club’s first-choice goalkeeper since 2011 and, in his eighth full season, holds the longest continuous service on the roster. A new deal would come with a pay raise; last year, according to MLS players’ union data, he earned $325,000 in base salary and $370,500 in overall compensation.
None of the figures involved in the negotiations wanted to comment.
However, one source familiar with the discussions said the sides have been “talking for some time.
