D.C. United is planning to offer a contract to Maxim Tissot, a Canadian national team member who piqued the club’s interest last summer and accepted an invitation to training camp this winter.
Tissot, 24, appeared in 44 regular season matches over four years for the Montreal Impact before being waived in the middle of the 2016 campaign. He completed the year with the second-tier Ottawa Fury.
In Washington, the Quebec-born player would provide depth at left back. Starter Taylor Kemp is the only natural fit at that position. The duo played one half apiece during Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Swedish club Jonkopings Sodra in Bradenton, Fla.
