D.C. United is far from the best team in MLS, but from a statistical perspective, no side has been better creating quality scoring opportunities. United’s problem is turning promise into payoff.
Saturday night brought more of the same at Audi Field: United took the lead and generated chances throughout but failed to capitalize again, sinking to a 2-1 defeat to the Columbus Crew.
Christian Benteke scored his fourth goal for United (1-2-3), but Diego Rossi scored the equalizer in the first half and the go-ahead goal midway through the second as the Crew (3-0-3) extended its unbeaten streak in the series to eight (5-0-3), including five at Buzzard Point.
