With a 3-1 victory over New York City FC on Sunday, D.C. United clinched an MLS playoff berth for the third consecutive year. DCU is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference and will finish either fourth or fifth, depending on the outcome of the regular season finales next Sunday. At the No. 4 position, United would host Montreal or Philadelphia in a first-round match at RFK Stadium on Oct. 26 or 27. The No. 5 slot would require a trip to Montreal.
United would secure fourth place with a victory at Orlando City; or with a draw and a Montreal draw at New England; or with a draw and Montreal defeat; or just an Impact loss, regardless of how DCU fares.
