Clyde Simms Undergoes Kidney Transplant

Almost a year ago today, former D.C. United and New England Revolution midfielder Clyde Simms received a kidney transplant which, unfortunately, his body rejected, leaving him to wait for another kidney. The 33-year old midfielder had been battling focal segmental glomerulosclerosis for more than half his life, and he recounted some of his ordeal with Steven Goff in the Washington Post earlier this year.

Now comes this encouraging update, two weeks before Christmas:

The donor, Katri Hunter, has been a longtime girlfriend of Simms, though I don't know if the two ever tied the knot.
