Two forwards employed by rival clubs in Los Angeles are the highest-paid players in MLS, according to data compiled by the players’ association.
Los Angeles FC’s Carlos Vela, the 2019 MVP who missed most of last season with injuries, will earn $6.3 million, followed by the Los Angeles Galaxy’s Javier “Chicharito” Hernández at $6 million.
Inter Miami’s Gonzalo Higuaín, an Argentine forward who arrived last September from Italian power Juventus, is third at $5.7 million, followed by Toronto FC’s Alejandro Pozuelo, a Spanish midfielder and 2020 MVP, at $4.6 million.
Thursday’s disclosure marks the first time since the fall of 2019 the MLS Players Association has shared salary information.
