Bryan Arguez, D.C. United’s 2007 first-round draft pick and a former U.S. youth international who at 19 appeared in a Bundesliga match, was acquitted of rape charges in Georgia late last week.
The trial lasted three days. Marcus Garner, a spokesman for the DeKalb County district attorney’s office, and Arguez’s attorney, Christa Kirk, confirmed the verdict.
In August 2013, Arguez was a member of the second-division Carolina RailHawks when he was charged with rape during a road trip in Atlanta. He was released on $75,000 bond and, while awaiting trial, was confined to his home state of Florida.
