Brussels terrorist attacks prompt Andy Najar to reconsider soccer career in Belgium

It was early Tuesday in Honduras when Andy Najar began receiving text messages from his wife in Belgium. Terrorists had struck the Brussels airport and a metro station, killing more than 30 people.

While Najar — a former D.C. United star who plays for Belgian power Anderlecht — was on assignment with the Honduran national team preparing for two World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador, his wife Geymi and their two children were in the family apartment in the Belgian capital.

“I was so nervous and scared,” he said by phone. “I called her like crazy as soon as I could.
