Barcelona and Manchester United, two of the biggest brands not only in soccer but international sports, appear to be planning a summer match in the Washington area as part of the annual International Champions Cup.
And perhaps, after three aborted attempts, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi will finally take the field in the nation’s capital.
The suggested date is July 25, almost six years to the day that the titans set a local soccer attendance record by drawing 81,807 to FedEx Field for United’s 2-1 victory.
Presumably, this year’s match would also take place at the NFL stadium in Landover.
