Away they go: D.C. United hits road in need of points

D.C. United has fallen well short of home objectives this season. So with the MLS campaign entering the late stages and United in a tussle for an Eastern Conference playoff berth, the meandering club is aiming to upgrade its away performances and gather precious points needed to remain in the hunt.

United (6-8-10, 28 points) will play four of its next five on the road, starting Wednesday against the Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium. After hosting the Chicago Fire on Saturday, Ben Olsen’s gang will visit first-place New York City FC, the contending New York Red Bulls and last-place Chicago.
