D.C. United on Friday was the last of MLS’s 24 teams to announce offseason roster decisions, though several matters remain unresolved.
The organization exercised contract options on five starters and remains in negotiations to retain three others: goalkeeper Bill Hamid, defender Frédéric Brillant and midfielder Lucas Rodríguez. Hamid and Rodriguez were on loan this season, and Brillant’s contract expires next month.
D.C. holds an option to purchase Rodriguez’s contract from Estudiantes (Argentina) for an estimated $2.5 million and is engaged in talks with Midtjylland (Denmark) to acquire Hamid on a permanent transfer.
Rodriguez appeared in all but one regular season match and contributed six goals and three assists.
