With a few minutes left in D.C. United’s opener two weeks ago, Andy Najar stood on the sideline near midfield waiting for a stoppage so he could enter the 2-1 victory over New York City FC.
As play continued at Audi Field, he could not help but think about the start of his first tenure with United in what seemed like a lifetime ago.
Eleven years since his teenage debut — and eight since he left MLS for a career in Europe — Najar has embarked on a second tour with United.
While he was gone, United left RFK Stadium for shinier confines at Buzzard Point and broke ground on a training center in Loudoun County.
