COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — John Brooks participated in the U.S. national team’s practice Monday, a positive development two days after injured his right leg in a friendly against Venezuela and three days before a vital World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago.
Brooks suffered a bruised quadriceps early in the second half and remained in the match for a few additional minutes before departing.
Coach Bruce Arena said after Monday’s session that he didn’t know whether Brooks would play Thursday against the Soca Warriors at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the first of two qualifiers over four days in CONCACAF’s final stage leading to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
