On one hand, Jason Spezza had a pretty decent little season.
The 31-year-old Stars center, who has acquired from Ottawa via trade last summer, ranked 44th in the NHL with 62 points and was right there in the discussion for top No. 2 center in the league.
On the other hand, he can be so much better.
While Spezza wasn’t far off from the numbers of players like San Jose’s Logan Couture (67 points), Los Angeles’ Jeff Carter (62 points) or Nashville’s Mike Ribeiro (62 points), he was woefully short of his own point-a-game pace established over 11 seasons with the Senators.
