Coming off an amateur tryout with Texas, Bryan Thomson has signed an AHL contract with the Stars for the coming year. He did not play in any games with Texas on his ATO.
The rookie netminder was invited to Dallas' development camp in early July. Based on the signing, I would expect him to back up Remi Poirier in Traverse City in September.
With Matt Murray and Poirier forming the Texas tandem, Thomson should get a chance for big minutes in Idaho. With the departure of Adam Scheel, Texas did not have a third goalie waiting in the wings until this signing.
