With some new assignments in tow, Texas engaged in a morning tilt with Chicago, ending up on the wrong end of a 3-2 score. The loss halted their four-game point streak and three-game win streak. Joel L'Esperance and Rhett Gardner each scored their first goals of the year after spending much of the season so far, or in Gardner's case the entire season so far, in the NHL.
L'Esperance got Texas on the board in the first few minutes of the game but was quickly answered by Gage Quinney, his first of two on the afternoon. Patrick Brown had the next goal before Quinney tallied his second to make it a 3-1 score after twenty minutes.
