The Stars again added to their defense Saturday, acquiring defenseman Ben Lovejoy from the Devils for Connor Carrick and a third-round pick in the upcoming draft.
Lovejoy, 35, is a pending unrestricted free agent who has played 11 seasons in the NHL with Pittsburgh, Anaheim and New Jersey, winning the 2016 Stanley Cup with the Penguins. Lovejoy is a defensive defenseman with two goals and five assists this season while averaging 17:35 of ice time.
Stars general manager Jim Nill has traded for four defensemen this season (Lovejoy, Carrick, Taylor Fedun and Jamie Oleksiak) in an attempt to make up for the absences of Marc Methot and Stephen Johns.
