The Stars signed forward Justin Dowling to a two-year, two-way contract extension on Saturday afternoon, extending the AHL veteran's time in the Stars organization. This year was the seventh season Dowling has played for ECHL affiliate Idaho, AHL affiliate Texas or Dallas in the NHL.
Dowling has played 429 games in the AHL, and is Texas' captain this season. He played six games in the NHL with the Stars in October and November, picking up one assist.
-- In the last three games, Stars forward Roope Hintz has lost just one of his 13 faceoffs. Hintz has impressed the Dallas coaching staff with his speed and play-making ability while eating top-line minutes alongside Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov, but has also been very good in the faceoff circle.
