The Dallas Stars have agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with defenseman Taylor Fedun.
Earlier this season, the Professional Hockey Writers Association nominated Fedun for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, given annually to the player who best demonstrates "qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey."
Fedun, 30, was a healthy scratch with Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Rochester before the Stars plucked him away for a seventh-round pick. He was acquired to help solidify the Stars' minor-league depth. Instead, he helped rescue the defense when it was ravaged by injuries.
Fedun set career-highs in a variety of categories this season: games, goals, assists, points, total time on ice and blocked shots.
