The Winnipeg Jets franchise has never won the Stanley Cup. It has never made the playoffs in consecutive seasons. It hasn't even won its division in more than a decade, and they were the Atlanta Thrashers then.
But on Saturday night, when the Jets visited Dallas, they served as a barometer for the Stars. In a 5-1 victory at the American Airlines Center, the Stars zoomed past any doubt that they couldn't hang with Winnipeg.
"I don't think we need any more motivation than what we had this offseason," Tyler Seguin said. "I think the first game we played well, but this was a really early test for us, and I think we passed with flying colors.
