The Dallas Stars scored twice — just not into their own net. Both of the St. Louis Blues first two goals came off of unfortunate bounces courtesy of Stars blueliners’ skates.
Blues defenseman Justin Faulk scored to make it 1-0 at 5:39 in the first period when his shot from the top of the circle deflected off of Stars defenseman Esa Lindell. Robert Thomas made it 2-0 a little under two minutes into the second period when his shot glanced off of Stars defenseman Thomas Harley’s skates and past goaltender Jake Oettinger.
