In a first ever matchup of two goaltenders named Magnus in professional hockey league history, it was the former Nashville Predators second round draft pick Magnus Hellberg that ultimately won the game for the Stars. Playing against his former AHL team, Hellberg stopped 17 shots earning first star of the game honors and improved his record to 11-4-1 as a starter.
The Stars (14-11-1-0) and the Admirals (13-8-1-3) looked to be heading for a goalless first period with just over one minute remaining. But that all changed quickly when Jack Becker scored his third goal of the season on a deflection with assists from Luke Krys and Kyle Capobianco.
