Stars defenseman Jamie Oleksiak is wiser for the experience of his first NHL suspension.
The league suspended Oleksiak for two games because of a high hit to Philadelphia's Chris VandeVelde on Saturday. Oleksiak also forfeited $10,208.34 in salary, which went to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
"I've definitely taken some things away from the suspension in terms of being smarter about it and to be more aware," said Oleksiak, scratched on Thursday against the New York Rangers at the American Airlines Center. "But my game is having a physical presence."
The Stars want Oleksiak to continue that style.
