In July of 2013 the Dallas Stars traded young defenseman Philip Larsen and a seventh round draft pick in next year’s draft in exchange for veteran forward Shawn Horcoff. Since then he has solidified himself as a leader in the locker room and contributed to the Dallas Stars’ 2014 Stanley Cup Playoff appearance that ended their five-year drought.
July 1st of this year, however, all of that could change. Horcoff will become a free agent. Although he wanted to be traded to Dallas, having previously been captain of the rather underwhelming Edmonton Oilers, his future as a Dallas Star is unknown.
