Hockey can be a random sport, one that can hinge on the random bounces and deflections and tips that swing games and (depending on the timing) seasons. The puck doesn't play favorites, and the pipes don't favor one bench over the other.
So even when the results lean one way -- like they have for the Stars during a stretch in which they have points in seven of nine games -- they can be misleading. Including Monday night's 2-1 loss to Blue Jackets, the Stars have not been impressive across the last two weeks, but have squeezed points out of games.
