Well, the prospect of a great series between the Jets and Predators sure received a boost Monday, but that means the rest of the Central Division could be in a lot of trouble.
Winnipeg and Nashville each made big moves before the NHL trade deadline, while the Stars stood pat and Chicago and St. Louis sold off. In fact, the Blackhawks and Blues provided the trading partners for the Predators and Jets, making for an unusual day in the division.
Winnipeg acquired forward Paul Stastny from the Blues. Nashville acquired forward Ryan Hartman from the Blackhawks. The prices were high on both deals, but it was clear that the top two teams strengthened themselves with an eye toward making a run at the Stanley Cup.
