The Texas Stars started off their 2020 slate of games with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Chicago Wolves. Josh Melnick scored the game winner in dramatic fashion just in time for a five-game homestand.
Former Texas captain Curtis McKenzie broke open the low scoring affair with a goal nearly eight minutes into the contest. Goaltender Landon Bow was otherwise sublime, stopping the rest of the 25 shots he faced.
The Stars earned 33 seconds of 5-on-3 time in the second period but couldn’t take advantage. Chances were few and far between for the road team as they were severely outshot in the first two periods 21-10.
