In an ESPN Insider article by Matthew Coller, he broke down five players from across the NHL who were in line to benefit most from new teammates their team had acquired this offseason.
Included in that list was Dallas Stars center Jason Spezza.
Spezza, as Coller notes, could have been on this same list last year in terms of what he could have brought to push Tyler Seguin to the next level.
Unfortunately, Spezza’s role mostly consisted on a line that included himself, Ales Hemsky and Erik Cole. He only played about 30 percent of his five-on-five ice time with Art Ross Trophy winner Jamie Benn.
