LOS ANGELES -- Jamie Benn ended the Stars' 25th season in Dallas by setting a record for the fastest hat trick in franchise history Saturday night.
Benn scored three goals in a span of 5 minutes, 17 seconds during the first period of a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings in front of a sellout crowd of 18,230 at the Staples Center.
The former Art Ross Trophy winner took 15 fewer seconds to score three successive goals than Bill Goldsworthy did for the former Minnesota North Stars. Goldsworthy needed 5:32 to accomplish his hat trick Dec.
