When Jim Nill took over the Stars in 2013, the team's biggest need was center.
Good thing he had a history in that department.
"I went to the University of Detroit," Nill joked of his 23 years in the Red Wings organization. "I learned a lot from some very good people there."
The Red Wings built a 25-year playoff run on smart players, and a lot of those smart players started as centers. And now, as the Stars work through their fifth season with Nill as general manager, they also have a lot of smart players who started as centers.
