ST. LOUIS -- Stephen Johns’ trip to the minors was both brief and fun, but now the 24-year-old defensemen starts the hard work.
Johns was assigned to the Texas Stars over the weekend and played two games. He tallied three goals on five shots and finished plus-2 in two wins for Dallas’ AHL affiliate. He was recalled Sunday and joins the NHL team on a four-game road trip that starts Monday in St. Louis, but there’s no guarantee he will be in the lineup as the Stars are still carrying eight healthy defensemen.
“He went there and played a lot of minutes, it was a good opportunity for him to find his game,” Stars coach Lindy Ruff said.
