FRISCO -- Most nights, you may not notice Stars goaltender Ben Bishop. Sure, his 6-foot-7 frame will draw eyes, and he’s the one that leads the Stars on the ice. But during the game, Bishop’s game isn’t flashy, it isn’t haphazard and it isn’t filled with highlight-reel saves.
Instead, Bishop relies on a keen hockey sense to read plays correctly and his large frame to erase what pockets of space exist for opposing shooters. Unlike teammate Anton Khudobin, Bishop’s style is grounded in poise and calmness, coupled with a vocal voice and active puck-handling.
This year for the Stars, Bishop’s game has been perhaps the best part of a 16-10-3 start, entering a four-game road trip through Vegas, Anaheim, San Jose and Colorado.
