The chaos of the Stars’ final shift Thursday night embodies the madness of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Cody Eakin fell down and lost the puck in the process. That created a great scoring chance for St. Louis. However, Eakin hustled back to barely disrupt the shot of Jori Lehtera. Then, as the puck pushed up ice in transition, Eakin took a pass from Patrick Sharp and within a matter of 15 seconds went from potential goat to overtime hero when he picked a corner and won the game.
It was elation with education, as the Stars not only won, but learned a lesson in the process.
