Heika: Names like Benn, Klingberg, and Lindell prove every round in the NHL Draft is an important one

The numbers game can be pretty cruel for an NHL scout.

Consider that the Stars have six 2016 draft picks and 10 amateur scouts. That means there's a good chance you spent all year working to find the diamonds in the hockey wilderness, and you could go home from the NHL Entry Draft on Friday and Saturday with nothing but a bunch of notebooks and hopes for next year.

"It's a real possibility, and it's a part of the job," said Joe McDonnell, the Stars' director of amateur scouting. "Yeah, there's a lot of years when your team doesn't go with any of your guys, and you just have to live with that.
