GLENDALE, Ariz. -- You could call it ironic that Stars general manager Jim Nill worked so hard to make trades for top centers Tyler Seguin and Jason Spezza, and now the team might head into the playoffs with Cody Eakin as its top pivot.
Seguin is sidelined by an Achilles injury, and Spezza has nestled nicely into the No. 2 center spot. But Eakin has been the big surprise for a Stars organization that once was desperate for help down the middle. Building chemistry every game with captain Jamie Benn, Eakin has five goals and four assists for nine points in his last six games.
