Heika: Dallas Stars out-shoot Avalanche, 43-15, but power play fails them in loss

It was a tough night for the Stars power play.

Dallas’s man advantage went 1-for-5, scored once in 9:33, and pretty much lost the game. Colorado scored twice shorthanded en route to a 3-1 win at American Airlines Center.

And while sophomore defenseman John Klingberg was front and center on both shorthanded goals, coach Lindy Ruff said the 23-year-old blue liner had plenty of help.

“It’s not just one guy,” Ruff said. “That first one was (the fault of) three guys. The second one, there was no support from anybody.”

The first one came when Klingberg dropped the puck early on a breakout before teammate Jason Spezza was in position.
