Head athletic trainer Dave Zeis talks hip surgeries and what the Stars are hoping to accomplish

The Stars’ penchant for hip surgery this spring has a lot to do with lessons learned and with improved technology, as the team is adopting a philosophy to take care of problems before they get worse.

Stars captain and Art Ross Trophy winner Jamie Benn had surgery on one hip Monday and will have surgery on a second hip next week. Yet he played all 82 games and led the NHL in scoring with 87 points. So how does a 25-year-old player go from playing some of the best hockey of his career to needing double hip surgery?
